EXYO Youth View Abstract Art at Peabody Essex Museum

Over the past few weeks, Express Yourself youth received guided tours of the Peabody Essex Museum through our continued partnership with ArtLINK. The students were led through Hans Hoffman’s “The Nature of Abstraction” and explored the newly opened wing of the museum.

The students were deeply engaged by Hoffman’s abstract art exhibit, which allowed them to think and perceive painting in new ways. The large, colorful canvases and interactive portions of the exhibit allowed them to express a variety of perspectives on how color, shape, texture and form come together – everyone feels or sees something different!

Their imaginations came to life as unique details, images and stories emerged in response to the paintings.

Over the course of the year, over 125 Express Yourself youth will tour the PEM exhibits with EXYO Artists, hailing from programs such as Northshore Recovery High School, Hannah Elementary School, Centerville Elementary, Solstice Day School & Beverly High School’s Ladders program.

This partnership continues to provide energizing artistic inspiration for our 26th annual performance IMAGINE NATION on May 21st, 2020. Mark your calendars and don’t miss it!
